Adopting Lost Fiber Yarn🧶

Updated: 2 days ago

They’ve been waiting for years in storage… now they’re ready to find their forever home.

If you’ve been around DotsYarnDen for a while, you know we believe every skein has a story — and sometimes, those stories deserve a second chance.

Recently, we stumbled upon something truly special: the remaining inventory from My Yarn Shop in Coos Bay, Oregon. If you ever had the joy of visiting that shop, you’ll remember it as a beloved fiber haven — shelves brimming with color, character, and heart. Customers still recall how warm and welcoming it felt, how the owner always seemed to know exactly which yarn would make your project sing.

Though the shop closed years ago after its owner passed away, her legacy continues to ripple through Oregon’s fiber community. When we were offered the chance to take in what remained of her incredible yarn collection, we knew right away: this wasn’t just inventory — it was history that deserved to be cared for, shared, and rehomed.

💕 The Story Behind “Adopting Lost Yarn”

This event is more than a sale. It’s a way to honor the creative spirit of My Yarn Shop — and to give these beautiful yarns a new beginning.

Each skein has been patiently waiting, tucked away like forgotten treasure. Our team has carefully sorted and checked every rescued skein to ensure it’s ready for a new life. As we've gone through them, we have found a stunning mix of fibers and brands you simply can’t find anymore.

From buttery-soft merino and hand-dyed wool to fun accessory yarns and vintage cottons, this rescued collection is filled with color, texture, and potential. Many still carry their original tags from My Yarn Shop — a tangible connection to our coastal community that once loved them.

👓 What You’ll Find

We’re releasing this collection gradually through our Adopting Lost Yarn event running in November at DotsYarnDen.com.

Expect to discover:

  • Project Bundles for scarves, wraps, and accessories

  • Sweater Lots for big, cozy projects

  • Creative Texture Packs to add flair or texture to your projects.

  • Mystery Bags for the adventurous stash-builder

Each set lists its original retail value, but all are deeply discounted. It’s the perfect opportunity to stock up, gift a fellow maker, or adopt a bundle that’s been waiting for its forever home.

🕰️ A Legacy That Lives On

We never had the chance to visit My Yarn Shop in person, but through these yarns — and through the stories shared by our local customers — it’s easy to feel the care and passion that once filled those walls.

Adopting Lost Yarn is our way of keeping that spirit alive — giving these yarns a home, a purpose, and a place in your next creative chapter.
